The Process

From first idea to finished kitchen.

A modern kitchen has many decisions: layout, cabinet platform, fronts, finishes, interiors, hardware, panels, appliances, installation, and budget. We organize them into a clear, six-stage path so you always know what happens next — and what we need from you.

Explore the system

Before any commitment, understand the ORLO.Haus design language. There are two cabinet platforms, five front collections, and a curated finish library — and once you see how they relate, the rest of the project gets simple.

What you do

  • Browse the two platforms — Sektion® System and Core System
  • Look through the five collections: COVE, CIRCLE, ARC, PLANE, REED
  • Explore the finish library and recent projects

What we handle

  • A clear design language so choices feel guided, not overwhelming
  • Plain explanations of platform vs. collection vs. finish
  • Direction on which path tends to fit which kind of project

By the end of this stage you should know roughly which platform and collection direction fits your home — not the final spec, just the shape of it.

See and feel the materials

Color, grain, texture, and handle detail change in different light and different homes. Samples turn an abstract decision into a confident one — this is the single highest-leverage step before a project starts.

What you do

  • Order a finish sample kit or a full sample box
  • Order collection detail samples to feel the handle profiles
  • Evaluate samples in your own light, against your own floor

What we handle

  • Curated sample kits — wood, matte color, technical surfaces
  • Physical front-detail samples for COVE, ARC, CIRCLE, and more
  • Trade sample boxes for designers, architects, and builders

Seeing materials in the space they'll live in prevents the most expensive kind of mistake — committing to a finish that looks different at home.

Share your space

Send us what you have. An IKEA® SEKTION® plan, architectural drawings, rough measurements, appliance specs, or just inspiration images — whatever stage you're at, we can work from it.

What you do

  • Upload your IKEA® plan, drawings, or measurements
  • Share appliance specs and any inspiration images
  • Tell us your timeline, budget range, and priorities

What we handle

  • Review the project and confirm what's feasible
  • Flag layout or sizing constraints early, before they cost you
  • Recommend the platform and scope that fit the project

The more you share now, the more accurate everything downstream becomes — especially the quote.

Shape the project together

This is where the layered choices come together. We confirm the platform, lock the front collection and finish direction, set the hardware level, and define the exact scope — fronts only, panels, island, or a full kitchen.

What you do

  • Confirm the collection and finish direction
  • Choose the hardware and interior level
  • Approve the scope: fronts, panels, island, or full kitchen

What we handle

  • Translate your choices into a complete, buildable spec
  • Coordinate panels, fillers, toe kicks, and appliance fronts
  • Resolve the details that make a kitchen feel architectural

Platform → Collection → Finish → Hardware. Four layers, decided in order, so no single choice has to carry the whole kitchen.

A clear, itemized estimate

You receive a transparent project estimate built from your actual layout, materials, parts, and chosen service level. No round numbers, no surprises at the end.

What you do

  • Review the itemized estimate against your budget
  • Adjust scope or finish direction if needed
  • Approve to move into production

What we handle

  • Price the project from the real layout, not a guess
  • Break out fronts, panels, hardware, and service separately
  • Give you a clear lead time before you commit

A good quote is itemized enough that you can see exactly what changes when you change a decision.

From production to your home

Once approved, your fronts, panels, or full cabinet system move into made-to-order production. We coordinate delivery, installation support, or full-service installation depending on the project and your location.

What you do

  • Approve the final spec and production timeline
  • Prepare the site (or let us coordinate it for you)
  • Receive delivery, or schedule full-service installation

What we handle

  • Made-to-order production with quality control
  • Delivery or nationwide shipping for Sektion® projects
  • Installation coordination for local full-service projects

The kitchen should feel built into the architecture of the home — not installed as an afterthought. That's the whole point of the process.

Ready when you are

You don’t have to know everything yet. Order samples, send us your space, or book a consultation — we’ll take it from there.
